Founded in 1980, Dancers' Studio West is dedicated to promoting the development and dissemination of contemporary dance through presentation, choreographic development and educational programming.
DSW’s season includes the presentation of original dance by the Calgary community in our 75 seat Studio Theatre, and the presentation of established national and international artists at major Calgary performance facilities.
Community Outreach programs include the annual Alberta Dance Explosions Choreographic Festival, Artists' Residencies and Master Classes. Other than in festival formats, DSW looks primarily for full evening programs of new dance by independent choreographers and small companies. The Alberta Dance Explosions is a three-week choreographic festival presented in February with a focus on new Alberta choreography. Artist residencies are conducted on an annual basis - most often drawn from the Calgary community, while remaining open to artists from abroad.

Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Holy Body Tattoo, Kid Pivot, Nyata-Nyata, Raw Gloss (Helen Husak, Rob Abubo, Serge Bennathan), Toronto Dance Theatre, Trip Dance Theatre, Vincent Mantsoe.

Programming Circumstances:
Our season is September 01 to April 30. Artists who wish to be presented by DSW must submit relevant information no later that December for the following season.
