Harbourfront Centre is an innovative non-profit cultural organization which creates and presents events and activities of excellence that enliven, educate and entertain a diverse public. Our ongoing programmes have represented the very best in international contemporary culture for over 30 years and established the organization as a key player on the international cultural scene and nationally as a vital staging area for the next generation of Canadian artists.
Our longstanding partnerships with dance artists and companies in the city of Toronto combined with our ongoing commitment to the presentation of international dance has made the theatres at Harbourfront Centre a destination for dance professionals and audiences.
Harbourfront Centre NextSteps brings together, under the banner of one series, the astonishing breadth of Canadian dance companies who call our theatres home. As Toronto has grown and diversified, so too has the variety of the city’s creative dance talent. NextSteps offers increased benefits and support to all the dance companies self-presenting in our theatres, thereby investing in the current and future success of local and national dance artists and companies.
World Stage, Harbourfront Centre's signature series of contemporary Canadian and international performance, a commitment to the best the world has to offer in theatre, dance, music and multidisciplinary performance from the globe's leading visionaries.
The Fleck Dance Theatre (formally the Premiere Dance theatre), which opened in 1983, is a proscenium theatre space designed specifically for the presentation of contemporary dance and has a seating capacity of 446. The Enwave Theatre is a versatile 425-seat venue can be transformed from a full in-the-round space to a traditional black-box theatre.
Artists interested in being part of Harbourfront Centre NextSteps or World Stage should contact us about upcoming opportunities. DVDs and press information are also welcome. Our programming timelines are flexible, but decisions are generally made by the end of January for the season which opens the following fall.
