The Studio of l’Agora de la danse’s double mission consists of promoting contemporary dance in Montreal, by presenting recent contemporary work, of choreographers from the region of Quebec, Canada and abroad; as well as supporting these same creators throughout their creative process. This mission is centered on the artist and its creation.
The Studio of l’Agora de la danse not only encourages and present works of well-known choreographers, but also of emerging artists to help them develop their careers. This Studio is well known as a coach and artist developer.
The Studio of l’Agora de la danse is much more than a theater. It is an incubator, a market marker and a co-producer. Each year, with his endowment fund, The Studio invests in productions and offers its support to the artists that they welcome in (creation residency and/or research, technical support). The Studio is also there in all the steps of the creation process.
Venue Information:
The venue, called Le Studio (The Studio), contains 241 seats in a frontal position, 345 seats maximum, which it is two-sided or configured in any other layout. The playing area measures 38 feet in depth by 47 feet in width. When risers are retracted, 67 feet in depth by 47 feet in width. The total playing area is 3,149 square feet.
