The Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF) is produced and curated by Kokoro Dance directors Barbara Bourget and Jay Hirabayashi in partnership with other Vancouver dance presenters. Its mandate is to present local, national, and international dance artists in performances and workshops to stimulate dance creation, knowledge, and appreciation.

The VIDF takes place annually in March. The festival has no aesthetic boundaries. We are interested in work that is physically visceral. We are interested in work that engages and challenges audiences. Artists are advised to apply at least a year in advance and should send a description of performing and teaching programs that includes all personnel and technical details, a video tape of the performance (or similar work), and information about upcoming performances. Accepted artists receive performance and teaching fees, per diems, accommodations and two to four performances opportunities. Travel assistance is available to a limited number of artists.

Facility Information:
The Roundhouse Community Performance Centre is a black box theatre that has a maximum seating capacity of 200 people. The stage area is approximately forty feet wing to wing and thirty feet in depth.

We endeavour to meet specialized lighting and video projection needs and will consider alternate staging/seating arrangements in the Exhibition Hall. There are two large dressing rooms with showers, a lobby and concession area. Rehearsal and workshop studio space is available within the facility or within walking distance.

VIDF events are also presented in other venues in Vancouver. Please check the VIDF website for further information.
